Richard Earl Smith

Richard Earl Smith, 67 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY.  He was born on October 19, 1952 in Louisville, KY to Earl W. and Dorothy Richmond Smith. 

Richard was a factory worker for G.E. in Louisville, a Nascar fan, and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and IU basketball.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending as much time as he could with his friends at the American Legion.

Richard is survived by his wife Patricia Ann VanMeter Smith, his daughter Lori Schuler Gavin (Shawn) of Jeffersonville, IN, son Chuck Schuler (Kathleen) of Kansas City, MO, his mother Dorothy Smith of Charlestown, brother David Smith of Texas, grandchildren Lindsay and Madison Gavin, and nieces: Leslie Gamboa, Courtney Ogle, and Taylor Bagnall.  He was preceded in death by his father Earl W. Smith.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 24, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial to follow in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday January 23 from 5:30-7:30 PM, and again on Friday beginning at 12:00 PM
