Laverne Adams, 88 formerly of Charlestown, IN passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at The Waters of Scottsburg, IN.
Mr. Adams was born on July 4, 1931 in Mayking, KY the son of Ewing H. and Suzanne Short Adams. He was a Welder by trade and retired after several years of service with the former Jeffboat Shipyard in Jeffersonville, IN. Mr. Adams served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the North Charlestown Church of God and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.
Mr. Adams is survived by his daughter, Letha May of Scottsburg, IN; son, Timothy R. Adams(Lea) of Otisco, IN; daughter- in -law, Sondra Adams of Charlestown, IN; 9 grandchildren, Shirley, Angela, Michelle, Travis, Ed, Joe, Tim, Debra and James; 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Shirley Adams in 1996; son, William Jeffrey Adams in 2014; sisters, Pauline Colvin, Vivian Fields, Dorothy Braimer and Virginia Hall; brother Donald Adams.
Life celebration services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2020 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Friday until 3:00 PM. Due to the current Federal, State and Local mandates regarding visitations only twenty-five people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. Please be aware that if you come you may have to wait. The family and we here at Grayson Funeral Home will accommodate you during this time. The funeral service is limited to a total of sixty persons and social distancing requirements should be followed.
