Johnny Eickholtz Obituary

John Joseph Eickholtz, 59, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home after a year long battle with esophageal cancer. He was born in Louisville, KY, on February 13, 1964, to Leonard and Carolyn Bischoff Eickholtz.

Johnny, as he was known by many friends and family, was loved by all who knew him. Johnny was a 1982 graduate of Charlestown High School and a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College. Johnny was a lifelong farmer working on his family farm. He was an avid fisherman, participating in many tournaments along with fishing for pleasure. He had a special green thumb in his vegetable garden. Johnny was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Charlestown Anglers, Sons of American Legion 335, the “Thirsty Thursday Club", and enjoyed watching Indiana University Basketball.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father Leonard Eickholtz and his brother Lennie Eickholtz. Johnny is survived by his loving partner of 27 years, Betty Montgomery; her son Scott Frazier (Stefanie); granddaughters, Dakota Frazier and Morgan Frazier; mother Carolyn Eickholtz; brothers Stephen Eickholtz (Delores) and Chris Eickholtz; sisters Susan Lewis (Dan); Joanne Burbrink (Nathan); and many nieces and nephews. Also a special cousin Kenny Lemmons (Tammy). Johnny is also survived by Betty’s father W. G. Cooper; her brothers Doug Cooper and Bill Cooper (Danielle), and her sister Nancy Ross.

Visitation will be at Grayson’s Funeral Home, Charlestown, on Friday, February 24, 2023, from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., and on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Charlestown, on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11 A.M., followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or to the WHAS Crusade for Children
