Gerry Taff

Gerry Taff ,84, passed away peacefully Jan 9, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loving family.  Born February 19, 1937, in Charlestown Indiana, Gerry was the son of Kynard and Margaret “Louise” Taff.  He married his beloved wife, Nellie Kay Shultz; June 21, 1958, in Jeffersonville, Indiana and she survives.

A graduate of Charlestown High School, Gerry was known for his big personality, hearty laugh and knowledge of all things John Deere.  Upon introduction to new people, his standard response was “Taff’s my name and fun’s my game.”  Gerry never met a stranger and had a wealth of friends far and wide, a result of his service work with Taff’s Gas, ICI Americas, and the many painting projects he completed for others.

A member of First Christian Church, Jeffersonville and Utica Lodge #337 F. & A.M. Gerry was also an active member of the now defunct “Little John Deere” Club.  Gerry loved exhibiting his tractors in parades, machinery shows and field events around the area.  His wardrobe of John Deere clothing was unsurpassed.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Billy. Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Nellie; children, Julie Thompson (Jeff), Kevin Taff (Talaina), Cristie Harper (Terry); Grandchildren Caroline Roth (Derek), Candace Thompson, Victoria Haire, Kayla Cox (Kaitlin) and great grandchildren Joseph and Eleanor Roth; sister, Mary Cook (Tom) and brother, Tom Taff (Marti).

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan 12, 2022, at 11:30 at New Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at Grace Hall at First Christian Church in Jeffersonville on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 2:00.
