Barbara Sue (Gilley) Hester

Barbara Sue Gilley Hester, 83, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at her residence.  She was born on September 15, 1937 in Whitesburg, KY, to the late Roy and Polly Brown Gilley.  Barbara was an Elementary school teacher at Pleasant Ridge, Charlestown and in Henryville, IN then taught Middle school in Hopkinsville, KY.  She retired from being the secretary at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Barbara loved teaching Sunday school, puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Charles A. Hester; and her son, Charles Mark Hester.  She is survived by her son, Roy (Karen) Hester of Charlestown, IN; daughters, Kimberly (Bobby) Perdue of Trenton, KY and Rhonda (Allen) Bottorff of Henryville, IN; brother, Henry D. (Barbara) Gilley; grandchildren, Justin Hester, Danielle Guthrie, Britni Lowery, Erika Robertson, Devin Hester, Kristin Cargill, Eric Hester, Drew Holt and Tanner Bottorff; and 24 great grandchildren.

Memorial services for Barbara Hester will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Henryville, IN, 304 Francke Rd.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until service time at the church.
