Winford Kenneth Cardin, 93 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday May 20, 2021 at his home.
Kenny was born on September 17, 1927 in Sonora, KY to James C. and Alma Henderson Cardin. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, a retired millwright for Rohm and Haas in Louisville, KY and a member of the North Charlestown Church of God where he played numerous instruments including the banjo. He enjoyed building custom made banjos and playing music. He enjoyed bluegrass music and Bill Monroe, UK basketball, hunting and fishing and softball and bowling. Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Cardin and sisters, Dorothy Brashear and Maxine Miller.
Survivors include his children, Ken Cardin of Jeffersonville, IN, Jerry Cardin of Charlestown and Tammy Phipps of Charlestown; grandchildren, John Phipps of Charlestown, Derek Carpenter of Jeffersonville, Lindsey Hyre of Jeffersonville and Kendall Holewinski of Milwaukee, WI and a great granddaughter Kaydence Hyre.
Life Celebration services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday May 25, 2021 at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday and after 9:00 am on Tuesday.
