William “Willy” Lynn Isaac 66, of Nabb, IN passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at his residence from the liver cancer he had been battling for 2 years. He was born on July 6, 1957, in Clark Co. IN to the late Melvin and Inez Reed Isaac, both originally from Magoffin County, KY.
Willy first worked as a welder at the Jeffboat shipyard in the early 1980s. For a while, he worked with his brother Hank at the family business, Isaac Small Engines. Later Willy obtained his pipefitter license and spent the rest of his working life traveling to construction jobs across the U.S.
Willy loved nostalgia, especially old Western movies and TV programs. He was a master at reconditioning cast iron skillets and he proudly hung them like trophies in his kitchen. He also spent many hours expertly flying his drone and retrieving after crashes. His dog, Boss, was a loyal companion and guardian and was always with him, especially when taking on rides together through the countryside. You may see Boss roaming the roads still looking for Willy.
Willy was the kind of brother that you spend 5 minutes wanting to strangle him and the next 55 minutes laughing and admiring his dry wit and cleverness. He could sometimes give the sense of being rather a crusty guy. Far from it ...... he had a heart of gold and was particularly good with young children who always saw right through him.
Willy lost his wife of 29 years, Alicia Huckleberry Isaac, in October 2016. Willy’s brother, Walter, also took the bus early and left us in November of 2018. Those left to grieve him include his eldest sister, Sharon Isaac, and husband, William Hudson of Austin, Texas, younger sister Maggie, and husband, Mike Helton, and baby brother Harrington (Hank) Scott Isaac and his wife Tammy. Others include nephews, Michael Helton, Daniel Helton, and Austin Isaac; niece Virginia Isaac; dear friend and bonus brother, Elbert “Spud” Mata.
Honorable mention goes to Harriet McCormick who provided loving care for Willy in the last months of his life as he struggled with liver cancer. She was his Guardian Angel.
Willy wanted to be cremated and buried next to Alicia at the New Market Cemetery.
