William "Bill" Smallwood

Bill Smallwood, 87 of Sellersburg, IN passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016.
Mr. Smallwood was born on April 15, 1929 in Bear Branch, KY the son of Elbert and Ollie Couch Smallwood. He was retired after 20 years with the United States Navy then while on active reserve he taught welding in San Diego, CA and retired from the former I.C.I Americas in Charlestown. Bill was a member of the North Charlestown Church of God in Charlestown, Fleet Reserve and enjoyed fishing, making fishing lures, hunting and spending time with family.
Survivors include his, daughter, Kimberly Smallwood Smith(Rodger) of Sellersburg, IN; sisters, Alpha Pruett of Louisville and Wanda Goode(Gary) of Nabb, IN; brothers, George Smallwood of Elizabethtown, KY, Elmer Smallwood of Clarksville, IN and Clay Morgan of Hyden, KY; grandchildren, Scott Mattingly, Teri Mattingly, Jay Milliner(Daniel), Ashley Thomas(Adam) and Jacqueline Lapointe; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; Donna and Gary Weston who provided loving care for Bill in his final days and the Veterans Administration. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Evelyn Day Smallwood, 2nd wife, Mary Thompson Smallwood, daughter, Barbara Sue Smallwood; grandchild, Cassandra Milliner; brothers, Jesse and Leslie Smallwood; sisters, Martha Gilbert and Carol Morgan.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, IN. Visitation will be held on Thursday beginning at 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Expressions of Sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Lung Association. The family wishes to especially thank Donna and Gary Weston who provided loving care for Bill in his final days and also the Veterans Administration.
