William Layton

William Layton, born November 1, 1967, in Madison, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, in New Washington, Indiana. His passing has left a profound sense of loss among his family and all who knew him.

William was the beloved son of the late William H. and Betty D. Layton. He grew up in a family bound by strong ties and shared memories, a foundation that shaped his generous and steadfast character. William was a cherished brother to his siblings, and his presence was a constant source of strength and unity.

He is survived by his devoted sisters, Lydia Gilland, Maudie (Jody) Johnson, Sarah (Ronnie) Smith, Anna (William) Vetter, Lisa Maples, and Alice (Larry) Dean; and his brother Troy (Beth) Layton. William’s compassion and steadfast support were felt deeply by each of them, and his place within the family will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother James Layton, nephew Josh Dean, and great-niece Bean. The memory of those who have gone before him remains ever close to the hearts of those who survive him.

Visitation in honor of William Layton will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington, and again on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM also at the funeral home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. William will be laid to rest at Bethlehem Cemetery in Bethlehem, Indiana.
