William Herman Layton

William Herman Layton 89 of New Washington, IN passed away on Friday January 24, 2020 at his home.

William was born on December 25, 1930 to Richard Brady and Anna Katherine Woods Layton in Madison, IN.  He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion Post 335 in Charlestown, IN, a member of the First Baptist Church of New Washington and a retired employee of Nugent Sand and Gravel.

He is survived by his children, Lydia Gilland of Jeffersonville, Maudie Johnson (Jody) of Greenville, IN, Sarah Smith (Ronnie) of Highland, IN, Anna Vetter (William) of New Washington, Lisa Maples of New Washington, William Layton of New Washington, Alice Dean (Larry) of Marysville, IN and Troy Layton (Beth) of New Washington; 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild on the way. William was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Darlene Layton in 2016; son, James Layton in 1995; 7 siblings and his grandson, Josh Dean in 2015.

Life Celebration Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 30, 2020 at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
