William E. "Pee Wee" Burkhead, born on March 16, 1967, passed away on July 3, 2026, leaving a legacy fondly remembered by all who knew him. His passing is deeply felt by those who shared in his journey, and his memory will remain cherished.
Pee Wee is survived by his wife, Kelly Sue Burkhead, who was a constant source of support and companionship. He is also survived by his mother, Janet Wright, his sons, Jeremy Burkhead (Jessica), and Brandon Franklin, carry forward his spirit and legacy. He was a proud grandfather to Natalie Burkhead and Paul Burkhead, both of whom brought him immense joy.
He loved to dance and do karaoke, listen to music, shoot pool, and golf. Pee Wee was a self proclaimed "Grill Master" and a diehard University of Kentucky Wildcat fan. His family all agreed he bled Big Blue!
William is further survived by his siblings, Homer Burkhead (Pixie),and Danny Burkhead (Darlene) as well as his sister, Connie Miller. These close bonds shaped much of his life and provided strength and unity throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Howard Burkhead, and his step-father, Jack Miller, both of whom were significant figures in his upbringing. William also mourned the loss of his grandparents, Raymond and Sally Burkhead and Homer and Christine Baker, and his first wife, Robin Franklin Burkhead.
A visitation in honor of William E. “Pee Wee” Burkhead will be held on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Grayson Funeral Home - Charlestown, located at 893 High Street, Charlestown, Indiana. Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to gather in remembrance and pay their respects. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home.
The family respectfully asked that expressions of love and sympathy take the form of donations to offset some of the funeral expense in care of Grayson Funeral Home.
William’s memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, exemplifying the values of dedication, love, and steadfastness. He will be greatly missed, but the legacy he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
