Wendell Clive Bare 87, of New Washington, IN passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, while in Hospice care in Louisville, KY.
He was born on June 26, 1934, in Paynesville, IN to Earl L. and Mayme J. Jones Bare. Wendell was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in New Washington and a 50 year plus member of the New Washington Masonic Lodge #167. He worked construction as well as working in a factory but, his favorite job was digging water wells. He enjoyed horse racing and spent hours handicapping the horses with his racing form. He enjoyed sprint car racing and was always ready to go with Jeff to the dirt tracks to watch Rick race. He also enjoyed hanging out with Chief and eating the meals Dave prepared at the track. He also enjoyed watching his grandsons grow up.
Wendy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sue Ann Bare, brother John “Dugan” Bare, sisters, Wilna “Juby” Benham and Virginia “Syke” Valasquez.
Survivors include his daughters, Vickie Grayson and her husband Jeff of Charlestown, IN and Marissa Bower and her husband Greg of New Washington; grandsons, Nicholas Grayson and his wife Tiffany of Charlestown, William Bower of New Washington and Evan Bower and his wife Patience of Charlestown; great grandchildren, Kayden Grayson, Tyler Ralston, Ella Grayson and Grant Bower; nephew, Edward Bare and his wife Ellen of Hanover, IN.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm Thursday at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:30 am on Thursday.
