In Memory Of
Vernon L. Davidson, Jr age 88 of Hanover, IN passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.
Mr. Davidson was born on December 20, 1925 in Newton County, IN the son of Vernon L. and Charlotte Bissenden Davidson, Sr. He was a Carpenter and Millwright with Carpenters Union and worked on the Markland Dam Project, retired from the former Jefferson Proving Grounds and was a farmer. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of World War II, was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and loved working on his tractors and bass fishing.
Survivors include his daughters, Diane Hay and her husband Charlie of Madison and Sherry L. Richardson of Hanover; son, Larry Davidson and his wife Nora of Hanover; sisters, Louise Ricketts of Hanover, Sara Sackett of Waldorf, MD and Betty Davidson of Ft. Wayne, IN; brothers, Robert and John Davidson both of Madison;7 grandchildren, Melissa, Chris, Brad, Brian, David, Pat and Holly; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and expecting 2 more. Mr. Davidson was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha Ruth Williams Davidson whom he married on July 17, 1946 ; sisters, Catherine Cooley and Carolina Black; brothers, William Davidson and Thomas Ed Davidson.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover with burial in New Prospect Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M and after 11:00 A.M. Sunday until time of service. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Davidson may take the form of donations to the New Prospect Cemetery Association.
