Venters Halcomb, 90, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at his home.
He was born on August 3, 1921 to Fred and Minnie Ison Halcomb in Whitesburg, KY.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII, POW, and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was retired from the Old ICI Americas and a life long farmer. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Clark Co. Cattlemen’s Association, and the American Legion Post 335.
Survivors include his wife Alene Frazier Halcomb; son; Van F. Halcomb of Charlestown, IN;daughter, Susie Bowman (Terry) of Marysville, IN; sister, Reva Caudill of Benham, KY; Grandchildren; Jess Hamner (Jessica) and Jillian Hamner; Great-Granddaughter,
Olivia Grace Hamner.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 11am at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to take place in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2pm to 8pm, and after 9am on Wednesday. Military services will be provided by the American Legion Post 335 and VFW Post 1427.
