**Obituary for Thomas Edward Shackelford**

Thomas Edward Shackelford, age 69, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on June 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 7, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Tom was the cherished son of Crittenden "Purple" and Margaret Shackelford. He had a dedicated career as a construction inspector for the Indiana Department of Transportation and served as a supervisor at Madison State Hospital before retiring. Tom was actively involved in his community as a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He had many interests, including playing golf, attending the 4-H fair, engaging in poker games, supporting Indiana University sports, and watching boxing matches, particularly those featuring the legendary Muhammad Ali. Above all, he treasured the moments spent with his family. 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Mike Shackelford, and his sister Markettia York. He is survived by his beloved wife, Amber Zollman Shackelford; his daughter, Kayla Schaeffer (Phil) of Charlestown; his sons, Joshua Stutesman (Lauren) of Charlestown and Bradley Stutesman of Charlestown; and his cherished grandchildren, Kennedy and Emerson Stutesman, Nova and Nixon Schaeffer. He is also survived by his sister, Maxine Vires of Mt. Washington, KY, niece, Tammy Kilner (Kevin) of Charlestown; his nephew, Tyler York (Ashley) of Charlestown; and his in-laws, Don and Beverly Zollman of Charlestown. 

A Life Celebration Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow at Old Salem Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the start of the service. 

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Clark County 4-H Corporation. Tom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
