Thomas O Mccoy

Thomas Orville McCoy III, a cherished husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was a resident of Jeffersonville, Indiana, where he lived with his beloved wife, Judy.

Born and raised in Indiana, Tom graduated from New Washington High School in 1965. He pursued higher education at Bradley University, earning a degree in Accounting. His passion for learning continued later in life, culminating in an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Louisville (2009).  Tom was a proud and active member of his community, serving as the State's 2nd Vice President (1970) and State President (1971) of Rural Youth Indiana. As a state officer, he traveled extensively for district/state events and cultivated lifelong friendships.

Above all, Tom treasured his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Orville McCoy II, and his beloved mother, Anna Gellhaus.  He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy, and his loving siblings, Jean Randall (Gordon) and John McCoy (Joyce).  He was the adoring father of Lyndon McCoy (Michele), Angela Kays (Richard), Jami Allen (William), and Amanda Eadens (Jeremy). His legacy lives on through his thirteen grandchildren: Brittany McCoy (Sagar), Samantha McCoy (Zachary), Tiffany McCoy, Laura McCoy, Morgan McCoy (Brian), Hillary Kays, Abigail Kays, Brooke Eadens, Jacob Kays, Isaac Allen, Taylor Eadens, Hunter Eadens, and Emilea Allen.  Additionally, he has two great-grandchildren (and one on the way) Juliauna Douglas and Atlas Kimsey.

Tom’s life was a testament to his belief in hard work, education, and love for family and community. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

To honor Tom, there will be a visitation at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, Indiana from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024.  Friends and family are welcome to participate in this celebration of life.
