Thomas Shannon Matthews III, 66, of Hanover passed away Saturday March 22, 2014 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on December, 11, 1947 in Madison, IN to Thomas Shannon and Virginia Margaret Goley Matthews II who preceded him in death. He was an Army Veteran as well as a farmer and a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife Vicki Blair Matthews; sons: Thomas Shannon Matthews IV (Mindy) of Bedford, KY and Michael Wayne Matthews (Mary) of Milton, KY; daughters: Melanie Dawn Matthews of Bedford, KY and Jennifer Lynn Valiyi (Kashy) of Miami, FL; step-sons: Robert Rhyne of Hanover, Matty Rhyne of Oklahoma, Chris Rhyne of Madison, Jason Youngs of Hanover, and Tony Youngs of Oklahoma; sister Patty Naegele (Ken) of Versailles, IN; brother William Matthews (Millie) of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren and 17 step-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday March 26 at 11:00 AM at the Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover with burial to follow in Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday March 25 from 5-8:00PM and again on Wednesday beginning at 9am. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the American Lung Association or the Jefferson Co. 4-H.
