Thomas J. Brown, a devoted family man, proud Marine veteran, and successful businessman, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, in Charlestown, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 6, 1941, in New Albany, IN. Thomas led a life marked by dedication, humor, and an unwavering commitment to those he cherished.

Thomas honorably served his country as a United States Marine from 1960 to 1964, including active duty in Vietnam. His service was a defining chapter in his life, and he carried his pride in being a Marine with dignity and respect throughout his years.

Following his military service, Thomas embarked on a distinguished career, retiring from MKM after 32 years of dedicated work. In addition to his professional endeavors, he was an entrepreneur who owned and operated Brown Rental Properties from 1979 through 2016, demonstrating his acumen in business over several decades.

A man renowned for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Thomas delighted in bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fiercely and found great pleasure in teasing his beloved fur baby, Palin. His home was a haven for fun and warmth, reflecting the generous spirit that defined him.

Thomas's passions extended beyond his family and career. He was an avid sports fan, enthusiastically supporting Indiana University, the Pacers, and the Fever. His leisure time was often spent playing Euchre with friends, deep-sea fishing, boating, and his love of horse racing. He treasured moments at his home in Astor, Florida, where he could immerse himself in these interests. Above all, he took immense pride in supporting his grandchildren's sports and achievements, always encouraging their growth and successes.

Throughout his life, Thomas's proudest accomplishments were raising a healthy and productive family and serving his country as a proud Marine. These pillars of his identity underscored the life he led—a life of service, love, and commitment.

Thomas is survived by his son, Kirk Brown, and his wife Donette Brown; daughters Debbie Wood and her husband Jeff, and Leanne Sidebottom and her husband Todd; grandchildren Andrew Wood, Morgan Feeler and her husband Eddie, Joseph Brown, Emilee Shultz and her husband Matt, Jacob Brown, Caden Sidebottom, Camryn Sidebottom, and Carsyn Sidebottom; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Peyton, Makenna, and Bowen. He is also survived by his sisters Judy Cole and Rita Moulin.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marilyn Sue Brown; his parents Allen and Helen Brown; sister Gail Miller; and brothers Donald and Gerald Brown, all of whom he remembered fondly and with great respect.
