Steve E. Davenport, 72, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Catherine Regional Hospital.
He was born on April 12, 1941 to Lee and Mary (Crawford) Davenport in Kingsport, TN. He was an Army Veteran, a retired chemical worker for Rohm Haas in Louisville, KY, a retired Fire Chief for Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the VFW Post 1427, American Legion Post 204 in Sellersburg, member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Jeffersonville, IN, and a member of the Henryville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (Maggard) Davenport of Charlestown, IN; sons, Anthony D. Davenport, and Samuel J. Davenport , both of Charlestown; daughters, Kelly R. Peterson (Scott) of Eagle, Co, Krista M. Deal of Henryville, IN, and Gretchen A. Keltner (John) of Charlestown, IN; 9 Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2pm to 8pm, and after 9am on Sunday. Masonic Services will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 7pm.
