Stephanie R. Embry, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 21, 1971, in Baltimore, Maryland, Stephanie was known for her kindhearted nature and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and like family.

Throughout her life, Stephanie worked diligently to achieve her associates degree to become a paralegal, showcasing her commitment to personal growth and helping others. Her dedication to her education reflected her strong values and her desire to contribute positively to the world around her.

Stephanie had a zest for life that was evident in her passion for raising chickens as well as her love for flower and vegetable gardening. These hobbies not only illustrated her nurturing spirit but also her connection to the earth and a simpler way of living.

Family was at the heart of Stephanie's existence. She cherished every moment spent making memories with her fiancé, James Melson, and her children, Cody Cochran, Heather Phillips, and Hallie Embry. The joy she felt in the presence of her grandchildren—Ray, Kayden, Colton, Levi, Xander, and Owen—was immeasurable, and she devoted herself to creating lasting memories with them.

Stephanie is survived by her fiancé, James Melson; her children, Cody, Heather, and Hallie; her sisters, Kim Gutman and Jami Gutman; her nieces, Alyssa, and Stephanie; and her nephews, Jordan, Billy, and William.

Preceding her in death were her parents, William Gutman and Betty Sargent Gutman.

A shining light in the lives of many, Stephanie R. Embry’s legacy of kindness, resilience, and love will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her warm spirit and commitment to family.
