Shirley Jean Chester, 74 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Lebanon Junction, KY.
Shirley was born on August 24, 1939 in Ohio County, KY the daughter of Donley and Geneva Leach Raley. She was the former manager of the old B & T Soda Fountain on the square in Charlestown for several years. She was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ohio County, KY and enjoyed spending time in her rose garden and quilting.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Marie Hazlett and her husband Joe of Lebanon Junction, KY and Danielle Cooper and her husband Bill of Charlestown, IN; sons, Steve Morris and his wife Pat of Gulf Breeze, FL, Daniel Chester Jr. and Douglas Chester and his wife Heather both of Charlestown, IN; sisters, Kay Kuntz of Louisville, KY and Mary Coy of Pensacola, FL; eleven grandchildren, Billy McAnelly, Tyson, Serena, Stephen, Nick, D. J., Billy Cooper, Tristan, Alex, Heidi and Justin; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jeremy, Andrew, Tru, Rylee, Melody and McKayla. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeanette Roach and brother Danny Raley.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown is in charge of arrangements.
