Shirley (Matlock) Begley

Shirley Matlock Begley 80, formerly of Charlestown, IN went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was born on December 2, 1942, to Jesse and Rachel Matlock.  Shirley was retired from Louisville Ladder Company and was a past employee of St. Michael’s Daycare, Louisville Neurosurgical Specialist and North Clark Hospital.  Shirley loved to cook and was one of the best cooks according to her family and friends.  She enjoyed flower gardening, country music especially Conway Twitty, but most of all loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; brothers, Earl, Charles, Danny, and Johnny Matlock.

Survivors include her children, Terri Petruska (David), Lisa Stutesman (Robert), James Begley (Carol). Known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren, Kelli Mauk (Cory), Joshua Begley (Jordan) and Brandon Stutesman (Nikki); great grandchildren, Jacob Braswell, Audrey Braswell, Evelyn Begley, and Karter Stutesman; sister, Paula Karr.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Life Celebration Services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday November 3, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Jeffersonville, IN.  Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday
