Samantha O. (Johnson) Eckenfels

S amantha Omega ‘Sammy’ Eckenfels, 79 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN. with her family by her side.  She was born on December 5, 1941 in Horse Cave, KY to Sam and Adell Hogan Johnson.  Sammy was an avid reader, enjoyed a slice of chocolate pie but most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sammy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Roger Eckenfels; daughter, Tammy (Greg) Ward of Charlestown, IN; grandchildren, Kristin Faith of Corydon, IN, Nick (Jami) Bray of Sellersburg, IN and Kenny (Shelbi) Ward of Corydon, IN; great grandchildren, Caleb Gaddis, Lily Bray and Reese Bray, Micaylah Sieger, Braxton, Braden and Kaitlyn Faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Joey Bray.

Mass and Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Michael Catholic Church in Charlestown.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 beginning at 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm also at St. Michael Catholic Church,  101 St Michaels Drive, Charlestown, IN 47111.  Burial will follow in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
