Sam Harper, 76, of Sellersburg, IN, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the University of Louisville Hospital.
He was born on January 27, 1941 to Ernest and Edie (Shoemaker) Harper of Powell Co., KY. He was a Marine Veteran, retired truck driver for the City of Sellersburg, and member of the American Legion Post 335. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Harper; companion, Joan DeHart; great-grandchild, Shylan Rose Buntain; and several siblings.
Survivors include his sons, Kevin Harper (Sophia) of Sellersburg, IN, and David Harper (Kathy) of Charlestown, IN; daughters, Chris Cooper of Lexington, IN, Lisa Gibbons (John) of Louisiana, and Deanna Anderson of Lexington, KY; brother, Roy Harper of Clay City, KY; sisters, Judy Puckett (Billy) of Stanton, KY, and Betty Harper of Birmingham, AL; his companions children, Elaina Freeman of Madison, IN, Sharon Spellman of Deputy, IN, Lana McCutcheon of Sellersburg, IN, and Dana Cherry of Madison, IN; several grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday after 12pm at the funeral home.
