Ruth Evelyn (Matthews) Blakley

Ruth Evelyn Blakely,74 of New Washington, IN, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021 at her residence.  She was born on April 14, 1946 in Jeffersonville, IN to Herman and Bernice Hobson Matthews.

Ruth loved to roller skate, dance, and listen to music.  Her favorite singers were Elvis and Scotty McCreery who she referred to as Scotty the Hottie.  She always enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and playing cards with her family.  Her family will always remember her being someone who loved to joke and tease just like her father.

Ruth is survived by her husband Alton T. Blakely, Jr. of New Washington; children: Richard Fitzgerald of Marysville, IN, Michael Fitzgerald (Archie) of Jeffersonville, Lisa Kendrick (Bob) of Jeffersonville, Teresa Aguirre (Ismael) of Marysville, Tammy Griffin (Donnie) of Jeffersonville, Robert Fitzgerald (Marilyn) of Las Vegas, NV, and Janet Greenleaf (David) of New Washington, IN; step-daughter Jeannette Miller (Jerry) of Louisville, KY sisters: Jane Hall of Jeffersonville, Patricia Schiller of Sellersburg, IN, and Carol Jean Monroe of Knoxville, TN; brother James Matthews of Jeffersonille; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 02:00 PM on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington.
