Ruby May (Shirley) Booth

Ruby May Booth, 97 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at her residence.

Ruby was born on September 6, 1926, in Flippin, KY, the daughter of Sherman and Nola Goode Shirley. She served as a waitress and bartender for several area bars and restaurants where she could use her gift of socializing.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Rosalind Booth, and Carol Coomer (Terry); sons, Douglas Booth (Joy), Leo Booth (Ruby), and Alan Booth (Marianne); 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gary L. Booth in 2015; ex-husband and the father of her children, Leonard A. Booth; sister, Olene Dismon (Carter); brothers, Hubert Shirley (Susie), Cecil Shirley (Ruby), Lester Shirley (Ruth), and Edgar Shirley; grandson, John Booth; great-grandson, Ryan Plamp.

Ruby wished no services would be held and to be buried beside her son Gary in Charlestown Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Ruby may be given to the donor’s favorite charity.
