Roy Roger Miller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on February 21, 2026, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 76. Born on April 17, 1949, in West Liberty, Kentucky, Roy devoted his life to his family and community, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
A proud veteran, Roy served in the United States Army from July 1968 to July 1971, stationed in Korea. He continued his commitment to service through his long tenure with the Charlestown Volunteer Fire Department, where he retired as President in December 2025 after more than 40 years of dedicated service. His involvement in the local community extended beyond the fire department; he was a valued member of VFW Post 1427 and American Legion Post 204.
Throughout his life, Roy balanced hard work with a wealth of interests. He worked for several companies, including International Harvester, Navistar, Roto-Rooter, Mr. Rooter, and Lifespan Resources, showcasing his strong work ethic. In his leisure time, he enjoyed collecting antiques, Hot Wheels cars, and classic cars, along with their parts. He relished the camaraderie of a good card game with the guys on Saturday nights and shared memorable travels along Route 66 and to Daytona, Florida. Roy's enjoyment of classic car shows was further enriched by his spirited approach to getting others to scout vendor prices at Swap Meets.
Roy is remembered for his incredible warmth, love, and devotion to his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Nancy Miller; daughters Kimberly and husband Aaron Sprinkle and Amy and husband Brian Graf; brothers Billy Miller and Dana Miller; sisters Goldie Stidham, Earlene Sams, and Beverly Watson; grandsons, Daniel and wife Michelle Sprinkle and Andrew Sprinkle; and one beautiful great-granddaughter, Isabella Sprinkle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Norma (Williams) Miller, and his sisters Elsie Stidham and Leah Rice.
Roy's memory will be honored with a visitation at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Charlestown Cemetery in Charlestown.
To continue Roy's dedication and service to the people, his family asked that expressions of love and sympathy take the form of donations to Crusade for Children in honor of Roy.
