She was born on June 30, 1926 in Pikeville, KY the daughter of Louis and Aletha Shepard Mortis.
She was the beloved mother of daughters Carol May of New Washington, IN; Barbara O'Riley of Mauckport, IN, Janet Haycraft of Elizabeth, IN, and Virginia Armstrong of New Albany, IN.
