Ronald “Ron” D. Curtis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones on December 3, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana. He was born on March 3, 1948, in New Albany, Indiana.

Ron dedicated his professional life to the insurance industry, retiring as a State Farm Insurance Agent in 2006. He was known for going above and beyond to ensure that his clients were well cared for, demonstrating an unwavering passion for his work. Ron's friendly and adventurous spirit shone through in all his interactions, as he was truly a people person who cherished the relationships he built during his career.

In addition to his successful career, Ron took great joy in coaching girls’ softball at Charlestown High School, where he positively influenced many young athletes. His dedication to the community extended beyond his professional and coaching roles; during a local flood, he selflessly reached out to families in need, offering to save their trailers by pulling them to higher ground. His kindness and commitment to helping others were defining aspects of his character. He never met a stranger and was very comfortable talking with anybody.

A proud member of Freemason Lodge 226, Ron found joy in camaraderie and service throughout his life. His interests spanned a variety of hobbies, including boating, fast cars and golf, which he loved dearly. After retiring, he worked at Champion Point Golf Course and enjoyed the opportunity to engage with notable golfers, including Fuzzy Zoeller. Ron was also an avid traveler, savoring cruises with his beloved wife, Sissy, where many cherished memories were made, including the lighthearted competition between them on the golf course.

Ron was particularly fond of animals, especially horses, and maintained a love for hunting and fishing throughout his life. His adventures reflected his enthusiastic outlook on life and his appreciation for nature.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 25 years, Sissy Curtis; his devoted sons, Josh Ratliff and Aaron (Alyssa) Ratliff; his grandchildren, Carson, Amelia, and Abel; his sister, Sandra Rippy (Robert); his daughter, Renee Curtis; and numerous friends who will all miss him dearly.

Ron’s proudest moments included working for NBC during the Masters golf tournament in Sawgrass, Florida, where he experienced a memorable encounter with golfing icon Tiger Woods—truly a testament to his adventurous spirit.
