Roberta VanMeter, 89 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Monday January 30, 2017 at Hillcrest Village in Jeffersonville, IN.
Roberta was born on March 28, 1927 in Waterman, IL to Herman and Iva Montgomery Abbott. She was a retired production worker for I.C.I. of Americas and a member of the North Charlestown Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John VanMeter; daughter, Karen Black; son, Robert Vest, Sr; sisters, Lillian Ater, Frances Gray, Alice Hall; brother Charles Abbott.
Roberta is survived by her grandchildren, Renee Nickels (Marty) of Charlestown, Wendy Vest Of Jeffersonville, IN and Robert Vest, Jr of New Albany, IN; step-grandchildren, John Eric Gramlin of Memphis, IN and Jeremy Gramlin of Speed, IN; sisters, Wanita Aubery of Wilmington, OH, Ruth Sullivan (Harry) of Henryville, IN, Sandra Coulter (Charles) of Sellersburg, IN, Mary Cable of Beaver Falls, PA; brother, James Abbott (Edith) of Lexington, IN; step-daughters, Patricia Smith and Sheila VanMeter of Charlestown, Shirley Kizer and Paula Gill of New Washington, IN; step-son, Larry VanMeter of Charlestown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday Feb. 2, 2017 at North Charlestown Church of God with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown and after 10 am on Thursday at the church.
