Robert “Red” Walker, 90 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday August 20, 2015 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.
He was born on June 23, 1925 to John C. and Bertha (Richardson) Walker in Charlestown, IN. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and Korean War, retired director for Weights and Measures for the State of Indiana, former Charlestown Township Assessor for 15 years, former Housing Director for the Charlestown Public Housing, member of the First United Methodist Church, Charlestown Lions Club, VFW Post 1427, and the Charlestown and Clark County Democrats.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Veva Riggle, Ordway Walker, Roscoe Walker, Oscar Walker, John Walker, Merrill Walker, Mary Alice Burns Werner, George Walker, Arthur Walker, Ernest Walker, and Laura Walker.
Survivors include his wife Jane (Rankin) Walker; son, Brian Walker of Charlestown, IN; daughters, Susan Walker of Charlestown, and Laura Potts (Mark) of Jeffersontown, KY; Grandson, Jacob Potts of Jeffersontown, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday August 24, 2015 at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1pm to 7 pm on Sunday,
and after 9 am on Monday.
