Robert G. Holloway, 80, passed away March 25, 2011 at his home in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Bob was a 26 year veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and suffering injury during the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and numerous other honors. After retiring from the Air Force, Bob continued his vocation as a veterans’ advocate, working for the State of Florida and the U.S. Department of Labor. He was active in several community service and veterans’ support organizations.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Holloway of Cocoa Beach; daughters, Vickie (Paul) Werth of Battle Ground, Washington, Bonnie (Hal) Ross of Winter Springs, Florida and Gayle (Jay) Duncombe of West Melbourne, Florida; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Glasscock of Jeffersonville, Indiana and Martha Horine of Richmond, Virginia.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter “Gent” and Grace Holloway; one son, Robert G. Holloway, Jr.; brothers, Wilbur “Bud” and David Holloway; and sisters Mary Anne Murray, Doris Bower and Elmin May Holloway.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Community Church, 216 Bell Street in Bethlehem. Interment will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery. Grayson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
