Robert Bruce Barger, 82, of Otisco, IN passed away on December 26, 2021 after spending the day with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents: Winfield Scott and Lena Ellen Barger, brothers: William Barger, Richard Barger and Kenneth Barger, and sister: Doris Headrick all of Louisville, KY.

Robert was born on July 5, 1939 to Winfield Scott and Lena Ellen Barger in Union Star, KY. After graduating from DuPont Manual High School in 1957, he was drafted into the United States Army then moved on to working for the Sheet Metal Union 110 of Louisville, KY as a welder.

He was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children Anthony Scott Barger (Sharon) of Otisco, IN, John Dennis Barger of New Washington, IN and Nancy Ellen Day (Tony) of Elizabeth, IN and always tried to support them in any way he could. He helped build each of his children’s homes, which he was extremely proud of.

Robert was passionate about anything that his children or grandchildren were involved in. He never missed an event, no matter how bad he felt. His grandchildren John Seth, Rebekah Mae, Elisabeth Rose, Makynsie Morgan, Brayden Connor, Garrett Lee, Gavin Lee, Grant Lee, Grayson Lee were the apples of his eye.

Anyone who knew Bruce knew that he was difficult and stubborn, but had a heart of gold and  would do anything to help others. He is survived by his children, grandchildren and two sisters: Helen Cissell and Linda Barnes both of Louisville, KY.

He was a proud supporter of The Crusade For Children where his family asks that any memorial donations be made. Robert’s celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2pm- 5pm at Bruce’s home, 6120 Hwy 3, Otisco, IN. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
