Robert Darrell Austin Sr.

Robert Darrell Austin Sr., 80 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN with family by his side.

Robert was born on April 8, 1943, the son of Robert E. and Helen V. Hawkins Austin. He managed the Mobile Station in Charlestown, IN and Louisville, KY for several years and ended his working career with National Distributers in Sellersburg, IN. Robert attended Park Street Church of Christ and was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post #335 in Charlestown, IN. He loved playing and listening to blue grass music. Robert played the Mandolin most of the time, but also could play any string instrument put in his hands.

Robert is survived by his wife of 56 years Roberta Williams Austin; his children, Robert Darrell Austin Jr. of Charlestown, Jaye Dee Austin and his wife Tiffany of Nabb, IN, and Roberta Lynn Craven and her husband Allen of Charlestown, IN; brother, Robert Dan Austin of Sellersburg, IN; grandchildren, Dakota Hadley, Jayden Austin, Cooper, Austin, and Dalton Craven; great-grandchild, Eliza Hadley; several nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, David, Andy, Darlene, and Diane

Life Celebration Services for Robert will be held at 2:00 P.M on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 12 noon on Tuesday to 2:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Robert may take the form of donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
