Rita Jean (Bruner) Mitchell

Rita Jean Bruner Mitchell, 76, of Charlestown, IN, passed away on April 14, 2022 at her home.  She was born on April 19, 1945 in Charlestown, IN to Roy Edgar and Cleo Nation Bruner.

Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Charlestown, enjoyed classic country music, and she really enjoyed going “on tour” traveling with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years Jerry Reece Mitchell, Sr.; sisters, Mae Arnold, Frances Mosby, Ollie Phillips, Edith Bolin, Mary Christie, Virgie Bolin, Margaret Bruner, and Ida Bruner; and her brothers, Roy Bruner and William Bruner.

Rita is survived by her sons: JR Mitchell (Robyn) of Charlestown, Jeff Mitchell of Charlestown, and Troy Mitchell (Kami) of Sellersburg, IN; sister, Earline Masingo of Charlestown; grandchildren, Eryn, Jessica, and Hannah; and her great-grandchildren, Trayton, Teegan, and Talaya.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 22, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial to follow in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 pm, and again on Friday beginning at 9:00 am.
