Mr. Abernathy passed away Saturday November 30, 2007 at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Matewan, WV, a Marine Veteran, a truck driver, and a member of the VFW Post 1427. He is survived by his daughters, Toni F. Hopson of Charlestown, Rebecca J. Smith of Charlestown, Melissa Wells of Louisville, Debbie Wilson of Sellersburg, a son, Richard Abernathy, Jr. of Sellersburg, and 9 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 3, 2007 at 1pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in the Charlestown Cemetery.
