R. Carolyn (Newman) Willinger

R. Carolyn Willinger 79, formerly of New Washington, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.

She was born on April 17, 1944, in Bethlehem, to  Wallace and Alma Roberts Newman.  She started her career as an employee of New Washington State Bank and then spent 31 years with Wiggam Lumber.

Carolyn was a 1962 graduate of New Washington High School and was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church serving as an elder, on the finance committee, and nominating committee. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and the Trivia Club at the 1894 Lodge.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Alma Newman; sister Frances Watkins (Bill) and her brother, David Newman.

Survivors include her children, James “Mike” Willinger (Paula) of Lanesville, IN, Beth Roberts (Kevin) of Henryville, IN, and Paula Bone (Jeff) of Evansville, IN; brothers, Eugene Newman of New Washington, IN, and Gary Newman of Sellersburg, IN; sister-in-law, Marty Newman of Lexington, IN; grandchildren, Drew Roberts, Tyler Willinger (Sydney), Dr. Lauren Roberts Searfoss (Evan), Sarah Willinger Brown  (Wade), Kaela Roberts Boone (Nick), Isaac Bone, Anderson Bone, and Easton Bone; and her first great-grandson, Bennett Brown.

Life Celebration Services will be at 6:30 pm on Sunday at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 6:30 pm Sunday.

The family respectfully requests donations in Carolyn's name be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
