Ray Compton, 80, of Charlestown, IN, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Kentuckiana Medical Center.
He was born on February 20, 1934 to John T. and Katie Sue (Bell) Compton in Ridgeway, VA. He was a farmer, worked for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, and a member of the North Charlestown Church of God. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Minnie Compton, and they are now reunited in Heaven.
Survivors include his sons, Lander R. Compton, Jr. of Clarksville, IN, Lanny L. Compton (Connie) of Henryville, IN, and Lance Compton (Teresa) of Charlestown, IN; daughters, Alice Smith (Sam) of Palmyra, IN, LaRita Stapleton (Ron) of Clarksville, IN, and Jennifer Compton of Indianapolis, IN; 4 brothers ; 1 sister; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2pm at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial to follow in the Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 1pm to 8pm and after 9am on Thursday.
