Peter Lyndon Bowen, 64, of Charlestown, Indiana, departed this earth and entered the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday February 24, 2024.
Pete was born to Robert L. Bowen and Lorriane Lewis Bowen on April 13, 1959, in New Albany, Indiana. He grew up in Charlestown, IN, attended the First Methodist Church and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1977. He was a star player on his high school football and wrestling teams and went on to play football for University of Louisville, graduating in 1982 with his Bachelors of Arts.
In 1989, he married the love of his life Sharon Roe and welcomed his stepdaughters, Lori and Emily, as they started their happy family. In 1993 their son Ethan was born and in 2002, a little brother joined the family when they adopted Dalton Roe. Pete and Sharon shared their love of God and the Bible with their children attending Northside Christian Church for more than 29 years. They both had a great talent for hospitality and hosted many special events in their homes.
Over the years Pete made a name for himself as a sales representative in the transportation sales industry and made many friends along the way. Pete loved to hunt and fish on his family farm and kayak the Ohio River. He spent many hours gardening in his backyard, then sharing his produce with neighbors and friends. He loved nothing better than spending time with his fellow football buddies reminiscing about the good old days. Pete was known for his baking skills and always had many requests for his special recipe chocolate chip cookies.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and niece. Emily McDaniel. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Roe Bowen, stepdaughters Lori Blaydes (Joey) Charlestown, IN and Emily Oliver-Jones (Brian) New Washington, IN, sons Ethan Bowen and Dalton Bowen of Jeffersonville, IN; grandchildren Peyton Jones, and Brooklyn, Karsyn, and Owen Blaydes; sisters Carol Combs (Vic) Lancaster, Texas, and Marilyn McDaniel (Tim) Charlestown, IN; and many beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
