Paul 'Rusty' Boyd Combs

Paul ‘Rusty’ Boyd Combs, 75, of Charlestown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Clarksville.

Born on May 26, 1949, in Dunnville, KY, to the late Joe and Louise Sneed Combs, Paul lived a life of service and dedication. He was a proud 24-year Marine veteran, a member of Marysville Christian Church in Marysville, IN. and enjoyed a long career as a truck driver for Winn-Dixie and Panther Trucking, where he and his beloved wife Norma drove together as team partners. Paul retired from driving with Mr. P, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and camaraderie.

Paul was a true people person. His heart was always open to helping those in need, he cherished the joy of having babies around to play with, and he found simple pleasures in taking rides in his golf cart and enjoying a cold beer with friends at the American Legion Post and the VFW. He also served as a member of the Honor Color Guard, exemplifying his enduring commitment to his fellow veterans.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 25 years, Norma Jean Wilson Combs, his brothers Joe Ivan, Verl L., Orrie Dale, and Ted Allen Combs, and his sister Ann Paragon.

He is survived by his son, Paul Combs, and his wife Melinda of New Washington, IN, his daughter, Michele Amstutz, and her husband Brad of Lake Placid, FL. He also leaves behind his brothers Derl Combs and his wife Debbie of Covington, KY, Kent Combs and his wife Cindy of New Washington, IN, Lynn Combs and his wife Helen of Charlestown, IN, and James Combs of Borden. Paul's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Lillian, Evan, Katie, Todd, Joshua, Bryce, and Kaden; and great-grandchildren, Ruby and Zephyr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will take place the same day from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington.
