Patricia Emogene (Burgin) Reis

May 3, 1939 — July 15, 2024

Nabb

Patricia Emogene Reis, 85 of Nabb, Indiana passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday July 15, 2024.

She was born on May 3, 1939 in Clark County, IN to J. Gilbert and Opha (Ruby) Burgin. Pat (Emogene to many) was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with family and friends – especially attending church, playing ping pong with the grandkids, and going to the Senior Lunches in New Washington. She also liked watching holiday movies on the Hallmark Channel, listening to music, and reading health and wellness books and magazines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Reis; her brothers, Charles Burgin and Steve Burgin; and her sister, Phyllis Rose.

As a wife, mother and homemaker, Pat also often worked outside the home at a variety of places, including a bank, an insurance company, a doctor’s office, and a hospital. Born and raised in Clark County, Pat lived in New Washington, Marysville, and Nabb most of her life, but in 1983, Everett’s career took them to Sullivan, MO where Pat discovered her career in real estate in 1988 while continuing to raise her youngest daughter. In 1991, they worked their way back a bit closer to family with a transfer to Sullivan, IN. Finally, in 1999, after Everett’s retirement, they returned home to Clark County to be nearer family and friends. Pat continued her career in real estate through the moves in Indiana until her eventual retirement. Throughout her life, she selflessly sacrificed much for family and was an excellent caregiver and advocate for many family members and was highly respected by doctors, nurses and others she encountered.

Pat is survived by her daughters, Diane Stricklin (Marty) of Muncie, IN, Janet Tomes (Phil) of Dahlonega, GA, Anita Gambill (Scott) of Chesapeake, VA, Karen Joann Olson (Kevin) of Louisville, KY; brothers, Jim Burgin (Sylvia) of New Washington, IN, David Burgin (Elizabeth) of Borden, IN; sisters, Brenda Yount of Scottsburg, IN; Freda King (Dick) of Burlington, KY; grandchildren, Martin Stricklin, Zach Stricklin, Tyler Stricklin, Jessie Tomes (Robin), Lindsey Tomes, Garrett Reis, Trevor Olson; and great granddaughter, Adeline Tomes. She was also aunt to numerous nephews and nieces.
