Pamela Kay (Zehner) Shearer, age 82, passed away peacefully at River Crossing Assisted Living Facility in Charlestown, Indiana, on October 30, 2026.
Pam was born on July 13, 1944, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Roy and Marilyn (Rains) Zehner. In 1950, Pam gained a bonus mother, Suzanne (Kantz) Zehner.
Pam graduated from Charlestown High School in 1962. She married Charles “Buddy” Johnson later that year. In 1965, they welcomed their daughter Karen into their lives.
Pam worked at General Electric’s Appliance Park from 1974–1984. She met Charles Shearer there. They married on July 8, 1989.
Her passing will reunite her with her parents; her daughter, Karen, her husband, Charles, her sisters Kathy Cash and Carol Zehner, her nephew Michael Adam Zehner, and her brother Bobby Kissinger.
Survivors include her brothers David Zehner of North Pole, Alaska, and Kevin Zehner (Donna) of Charlestown, Ron Kissinger (Leona), Tom Kissinger, John Kissinger (Carol), Donnie Kissinger all of Walkerton, IN, her sisters Kathy Manenti (Tom) of St. Louis, Missouri, Pat Hathaway (Rodney) and Joan McLochlin (Tom), both of Plymouth, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews.
Pam also leaves behind many friends at River Crossing and her nurse, Holly Kane, whom she considered family.
Pam was the candy maker in the family. Her nephews always looked forward to helping her unload and distribute the peanut butter fudge and chocolate walnut fudge she’d make every Christmas. It was delicious. She loved dogs, family events, and the band The Temptations. “My Girl” was sung for her whenever The Paul Boggs Band played at River Crossing. She particularly enjoyed the sautéed onions her niece made at holiday dinners. Pam also enjoyed retirement in Florida for a few years with Karen. Pam Shearer had a good sense of humor, accepted life as it was, and always made the best of any situation. She will be missed.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 06, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, IN. Funeral services will also be held on Friday beginning at 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private in Charlestown Cemetery.
