Norman Wayne Lilly, born on September 9, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life on May 7, 2025, in Charlestown, Indiana. Norman was the cherished son of Nora and William Lilly and a proud member of a family that included four siblings. His father courageously served in World War II, leading Norman's family to move to Charlestown in 1943, where his mother secured work at the ammunition plant to support their family.
Growing up, Norman enjoyed an adventurous and joyful childhood, often sharing fond memories of his youth with his children and grandchildren. He thrived in the outdoors, spending summers playing in the refreshing waters of 14-Mile Creek. His athletic prowess was evident as he excelled in basketball, baseball, and track, ultimately earning a basketball scholarship to Vincennes University.
Norman found great joy in the companionship of his bird dogs and English setters, embracing every opportunity to go fishing, quail hunting, and golfing at the Elks Club in Jeffersonville, Indiana. His love for nature and sports was rivaled only by his devotion to his family and his Catholic faith.
A highlight of Norman's life included his beloved "20-plus snowbird" years spent in Winter Haven, Florida, where he embraced the warmth of the sun and the community he found there. Throughout his life, Norman remained dedicated to those he loved, embodying the values of family and faith.
He is survived by his children: Mark Lilly, Teresa Krawiec, Harold Lilly, and Kimberly Jo Horine (Gordon). Norman also leaves behind his brother, Tony Lilly (Joyce). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Heather Lilly, Jason McCreary, Jessica Moore (Joe), Amanda Doyle, Bruce Armstrong, Jeffrey Krawiec, George Horine (Leisha), Elizabeth Lilly, Kelly Krawiec (Thomas), and Matthew Krawiec. He was blessed with great-grandchildren: Devyn Hall, Ashtyn Boatright, Justin Moore, Brianna Fugate, Jayden Fugate, Waylon Moore, Izzy and Emma McCreary, Bryton Horine, Rylee York, Gordon Horine (Lucy), and Chloe Snedker (David), along with Megan Horine and five great-great-grandchildren residing in England: Finley, Penelope (Giuseppe), Darcie-Mei, Ronald, and Elsie, and Poppy.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings Don and Pat Bradshaw, Paul and Joyce Lilly, who have all lovingly welcomed him into the hereafter.
