In Memory Of
Norma Jane Richmond, age 91 of Hanover passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Thornton Terrace Health Campus.
Mrs. Richmond was born April 7, 1920 in Hanover to William and Carrie Stillhammer Kessler. She was a lifelong resident of Hanover and in her youth loved spending time swimming and boating on the Ohio River. She was a graduate of the old Hanover High School and attended Hanover College. She retired in 1980 from the former Indiana Telephone Company. Mrs. Richmond was a member of Hanover Baptist Church and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was an avid University of Louisville basketball fan, loved spending time with family and friends and taking rides through the countryside.
Mrs. Richmond is survived by one aunt, Ruby Stillhammer Hunter of Hanover; one nephew, Wayne Richmond and his wife, Linda of Bethesda, MD.; several cousins, including: John Stillhammer of Hanover, Sharon Hurst of Lexington, KY., Linda Workman of Jeffersonville, IN., Holly Foss of Minneapolis, MN. and dear friends, Jinx White and Betty Bennett, both of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Forest Elmo “Barry” Richmond who was killed in April 1945 while serving in World War II and her son, Larry Richmond in July 1967.
Norma was a lovely, dear woman who will be remembered and missed by her family and friends whose lives she touched with her calming strength and sweet, gentle smile. In her memory, please pass along a kindness whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Funeral services will be held at Grayson Funeral Home in Hanover on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 12:00 noon with burial in Hanover Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
