Norma Cobb Rhodes was born in Charlestown, Indiana to Ewing and Della Mae Cobb on June 25th, 1937.
She left her physical body to reunite with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 6th, 2024. She passed away peacefully at Lincoln Hills Nursing Facility in New Albany, Indiana.
Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Everett Lee Rhodes, who she was married to for 42 years. Also gone on before were her loving sister, Thelma Caldwell, and her brothers, Earl (Buster) Cobb, Lawrence Cobb, and Harold Roger Cobb.
Norma retired from Clark Memorial Hospital in 2000, where she worked in the dietary and nutritional department for 36 years.
Norma loved her church and church family tremendously. Second Baptist Church, Charlestown was her favorite place to be. She joined at an early age and served as the President of the Usher Board and trustee of the church for many years. She was very serious about the work she did for the Lord, and always served with a genuine smile and friendly spirit.
Norma loved to shop, be around her family, cook delicious food for the holidays and talk on the phone to her best friend, Betty Buckner everyday, who later in life became her neighbor too. They were like sisters and family. At 4 pm she had to always be available to watch her stories, 'Young and the Restless' was her favorite weekday tv entertainment. But most of all she loved her family., she enjoyed spending quality time or talking to them on the phone. They made her life complete and whole, she loved them with all of her heart.
She leaves behind her children, Gary, Donnie, Deborah, Roger (Mina), and Larry Rhodes, she cared so much for them than they probably realize. Norma was a devoted grandmother to Ericka, Ashley, Zachary, Trinity, Jamal, Shanda, Kayla, and also her 7 great-grandchildren; and one sibling, her loving brother, Robert Cobb.
Norma's true joy came from her family and friends, but especially God. She is now resting in the arms of the Lord.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10am until 1 pm at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. Life celebration services will begin at 1 pm also at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Charlestown Cemetery.
