Norma Jean Bagshaw Hazel, 90 formally of Jeffersonville, IN. passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022, in London, Ohio. She was born on November 22, 1932, in Jeffersonville, IN to Eldon and Flossie Whiteside Bagshaw. Norma worked at the ICI plant and eventually moved to Ohio to open a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. She loved her family, playing cards, going to casinos, and making crafts.
Norma married Lawrence Jay Wheeler in 1948 and they spent 30 wonderful years together, raising their three sons all of whom survive, Larry (Esther) Wheeler of London, OH, Ronald Wheeler of Mt. Vernon, OH, and Michael (Sharon) Wheeler of London, OH. She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Brian, Chad, Brandon, Travis, Brianna, Brittany, and Katie; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her sister, Margaret (Ralph) Fordyce of Charlestown, S.C., and her brother, Raymond (Brenda) Bagshaw of Pekin, IN, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Jay Wheeler in 1978 and Ernie Hazel in 2012; siblings, William, James, Robert, Michael Jr., and Virginia. Two special cousins that were raised more like her sisters, Mary, and Carolyn Ward.
The family would like to say a special thank you to friends, Ron Owens, Steve Rhoten, and Roger Singer for all the extra care.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Crown Hill Cemetery in New Washington, IN
