Charlestown

Nell J. Hayes 89, formerly of Charlestown, IN passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany, IN.

She was born on September 21, 1934, in Quinwood, WV to William T. and Alma Hoke Harless.  She was a retire registered nurse and attended First United Methodist Church in Charlestown.  She enjoyed raising flowers and her pet dogs and cats, watching Blue Bloods and Dancing with the Stars.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Hayes.

Nell is survived by her son, John Hayes and his wife Laurie of Jeffersonville, IN; brother, John D. Harless of Beechwood, IL, sister, Joannie Dorsey of Charmco, WV; grandsons, Steven Hayes of Jeffersonville and Benjamin Hayes and his wife April of Georgetown, IN; great grandchildren, Braden and Addyson Hayes; and several nieces and nephews.

Life Celebration Services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday and after 12:00 pm on Saturday.
