Nancy Ann (Looney) Rash, 78, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy battled cancer this year and faced her diagnosis with remarkable strength, grace, and beauty until the end. Her unwavering faith and belief in God provided the strength, hope and perseverance needed to face this disease. Though the journey was difficult, she never let it diminish her spirit. She was a strong, inspiring woman, and although it is heartbreaking saying goodbye to someone so loved and cherished, her family takes comfort knowing she is finally at peace.

Nancy cherished traditions and never missed a chance to gather her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren for birthday celebrations, every observed traditional holiday, and of course her made up potluck celebrations of "just because she missed us" dinners. No matter how she was feeling, she made sure everyone was having a good time. Family was paramount to her.

She worked as a volunteer and was a member of several organizations in her community. To name a few: The Meadow Heights Women's Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, she taught religious ED at Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Sunday mornings, and was a Cantor at St. Michael Church.

Nancy had the gift of gab and never met a stranger. Her magnetic soul drew people in, and immediate bonds of love and friendship were formed. She had many lifelong friends, two of whom were Patty Berry, whom she met when she was about 10, and Ann Betsekas, who was her best friend since the age of 18. Unfortunately, both passed in 2010, Patty on January 23rd and Ann on February 8th, leaving her with a hole in her heart. We pray her heart is now mended as she left this world to the beauty of the next and joined all the loved ones who've gone before.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard Looney and Louise Dudley; two brothers, Richard and William Looney; two sisters, Donna Insley and Marla Thomas; and granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Gossman.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Joe; her two daughters, Allisa Gossman and Christine Hester (Jeff); her grandchildren Joshua Gossman (Alaina), Jeffry Hester, and Guinevere Hester; and her great-grandchildren Kolben and Kadley Gossman; sisters, Melinda Ellis (Bob) and Christine Hooper (Danny). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

Those fortunate enough to have known Nancy are invited to honor her and surround her family with love at her church service. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 101 St. Michaels Drive, Charlestown, IN 47111
