Michael Wayne Collett

Michael Wayne Collett, 71, of Charlestown, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana, surrounded by his family.

Michael graduated from Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1980 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He later retired from Budget Janitorial and Lawncare. In his younger years, he was a Golden Gloves boxer. In his leisure time, Michael loved watching sports.

Michael is survived by his wife, LaJeana Evans-Collett; his children, Michael (Duwayna) Boller Sr., DaShina (Josh) Bibbs, and Regine Martin; his step-sons, Brandon (Emily) Evans and Quentez Hammond; his sisters, Debra (Arman) Patterson, Niecy Collett, and Cheryl (Daryl) Covington; and sister-in-law, Angela Evans. He was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and an abundance of loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Collett; his mother, Norma Jean Collett; and his sister, Charmaine Collett.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Grayson Funeral Home (893 High Street, Charlestown). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, at the funeral home. Michael will be laid to rest at New Albany National Cemetery at a later date.
