Melton Ernest "Buddy" Grayson

Melton Ernest “Buddy” Grayson, 86, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Rolling Hills Healthcare in New Albany, IN.

He was born on October 21, 1935, in Jeffersonville, IN to Christian and Lucinda Brummett Grayson.  Buddy was an Army Veteran, member of First Baptist Church in Charlestown, a former owner of the A&W Root Beer stand, in Salem, IN and a retired owner of Superior Vault Company in Charlestown.  He enjoyed woodworking, playing marbles, canning and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James R. Grayson and Ed Grayson and a great grandson, Killian Carney

Survivors include his wife Margaret Jenkins Grayson, daughters, Cindy Belles and her husband Mark of Sellersburg, IN, Susan Newton and her husband Rick of Charlestown and Cathy Spangelo and her husband Bob of Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Sarah Love and her husband Joel of Charlestown, Rachael Lyons  and her husband Brad of Chesterfield, VA, Daniel Newton and his wife Sarah of Crestwood, KY, Rebecca McKee and her husband Aaron of Memphis, IN, Erica Carney and her husband Shawn of Fargo, ND, Grayson Spangelo and his wife Kayla of Mandan, ND and Aubrey Spangelo of Mandan, ND; great grandchildren, Katie Love, Benjamin Love, Cody Love and his wife Meghan, Ella Lyons, Julianne Lyons, Jameson Lyons, June Newton, Jackson Newton, Grace McKee, Lochlan Carney and Merlan Carney; great great grandchildren, Oliver and Arlo.

Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Wednesday.
